A key factor in our decision to come to South East Asia was the food - here's an overview of what we ate in Malaysia.
So we're discovering that Malaysian public transport never runs to time! We arrived at Kuah on the south side of the island about an hour later than expected and jumped in a Grab to our hotel at Pantai Cenang, Langkawi's main beach on the west coast.

So turns out I'm much more of a small town girl than a big city one. From the moment our ferry docked into George Town on the island of Penang, I felt much more comfortable than I did in KL. And it also helps that the food here is amazing!
Penang is an island off the West coast of peninsular Malaysia. We stayed in George Town, which is the main town on the island.

From Kuching we flew to Malaysia Peninsula and Kuala Lumpur. Our flight was a bit delayed so we didn't arrive at our accommodation until about 4pm. Before leaving the UK, we had booked everything up until New Year, thinking things would be pretty busy at this time of year. We wanted something a bit special for New Year and so booked a hostel with a rooftop infinity pool and a view of the Petronas Towers. This did not disappoint! And all for £10 a night - bargain!
Kuala Lumpur (KL) is the capital of Malaysia and is on the peninsular mainland.
